The company was originally established in 1958 as Lucky Gold Star, producing radios, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. In 1995, Gold Star was renamed LG Electronics, and acquired Zenith Electronics of the United States. In 1997 it started to produce mobile phone.
Currently number five, LG Electronics is expected to become the fourth largest handset maker in 2008 in the world. It is second largest electronics company in South Korea. Now it is one of the top 100 electrics and house hold product manufacturer in the world.
